Getting from Amorgos to Aegina

If you are heading to Aegina from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to the closest major island to Athens, in the Saronic Gulf. It has the best preserved ancient Greek temple in the country at Afaia, a thriving pistachio industry and a waterfront that fills up with Athenians every weekend.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Amorgos to Aegina. Getting there means taking the ferry from Amorgos to Piraeus, which takes around 5.5 to 9.5 hours, and then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Aegina, which takes around 40 minutes on the fast boat and around 1 hour 20 minutes on the conventional ferry, with over 40 daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Aegina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Amorgos has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, flying to Athens and then taking the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Aegina gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Take the ferry from Amorgos to Naxos, fly to Athens and take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Aegina. With over 40 daily departures in summer you never need to book the Piraeus to Aegina connection in advance. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Amorgos to Piraeus and take the conventional ferry across to Aegina.
