Getting from Amorgos to Koufonisia
If you are heading to Koufonisia from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to one of the Small Cyclades, just a short hop to the northwest. It has some of the finest beaches in the Cyclades and a lively summer atmosphere that punches well above its size.
Take the ferry
There is a direct ferry from Amorgos to Koufonisia running several times a week via the Express Skopelitis, the local Small Cyclades ferry that threads through the island group. The crossing from Katapola to Koufonisia takes around 25 to 45 minutes and is one of the shortest and most enjoyable hops in the Cyclades. It is the most natural connection between the two islands and stays entirely within the Small Cyclades network.
Getting there by air
Koufonisia has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Amorgos has no airport either. The Express Skopelitis ferry is considerably more practical than flying for this very short island connection.
Your best option
Take the Express Skopelitis from Amorgos to Koufonisia. At around 25 to 45 minutes from Katapola it is one of the most effortless island hops in the Cyclades. Check the schedule before planning around it as the service runs a limited number of times per week. Book ahead in summer as Koufonisia has very limited accommodation and the island fills up fast.
