Getting from Amorgos to Naxos

If you are heading to Naxos from Amorgos you are making your way from the most eastern of the Cyclades to the largest island in the group, a short hop to the west. It has a medieval Venetian town above the port, long sandy beaches on the west coast and a mountainous interior of marble villages.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Amorgos to Naxos running daily in summer, with both the Express Skopelitis and the Blue Star conventional ferry serving the route. The Express Skopelitis takes around 2 to 3 hours from Katapola and runs almost daily. The Blue Star conventional ferry takes around 1.5 to 2 hours and runs several times a week. It is one of the most natural and practical connections from Amorgos and the gateway to flights from Naxos Airport.

Getting there by air

Naxos has its own small airport with connections from Athens. Amorgos has no airport. The ferry to Naxos is considerably more practical than flying for this connection given the direct sea route between the two islands.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Amorgos to Naxos. It is the most natural and enjoyable connection from Amorgos and puts you at an island with good flight connections, a central ferry hub and everything you need for onward travel. If you are traveling with a car, the Blue Star conventional ferry takes your vehicle directly to Naxos Town port.
