Getting from Anafi to Mykonos

If you are heading to Mykonos from Anafi you are making your way from one of the most remote islands in the Cyclades to the most cosmopolitan island in the group. It has a maze of whitewashed lanes above the port, long beaches on the south coast and some of the best beach clubs in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Anafi to Mykonos running in summer on the wider Blue Star and Seajets routes. The service runs a limited number of times per week and takes around 5 to 8 hours depending on the vessel and stops. It keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades and avoids going through Athens. Alternatively, take the ferry from Anafi to Santorini and then the fast catamaran from Santorini to Mykonos, which runs several times daily in summer.

Getting there by air

Mykonos has an international airport with connections from Athens. Anafi has no airport. Taking the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, flying to Athens and then Athens to Mykonos takes around 40 minutes on the second leg. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, fly to Athens and then fly to Mykonos. It is the fastest and most practical approach. Book ahead in July and August as Mykonos flight spaces fill up fast. If you prefer to travel by sea, check whether the seasonal direct ferry from Anafi aligns with your dates. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Anafi to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Mykonos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to Mykonos New Port.
