Getting from Anafi to Sifnos

If you are heading to Sifnos from Anafi you are making your way from one of the most remote islands in the Cyclades to one of the most respected islands in the group, on the western side of the Aegean. It is known above all for its food, a tradition of pottery and cooking that has made it one of the most regarded gastronomic destinations in the Aegean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Anafi to Sifnos. Getting there means taking the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, which takes around 1 hour 10 to 1 hour 30 minutes, and then either taking the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry from Athens, which runs up to 4 times daily in summer and takes around 2.5 hours on the fast boat, or flying to Athens and taking the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos.

Getting there by air

Sifnos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Anafi has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, flying to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus to Sifnos. At around 2.5 hours on the fast boat the Piraeus to Sifnos crossing is one of the more manageable Cyclades connections. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Anafi to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Sifnos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to Kamares port.
