Getting from Anafi to Tinos

If you are heading to Tinos from Anafi you are making your way from one of the most remote islands in the Cyclades to an island in the central part of the group. It has the most venerated pilgrimage church in Greece and a tradition of extraordinary marble craftsmanship in its interior villages.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Anafi to Tinos running in summer on the wider Blue Star route. The service runs a limited number of times per week and takes around 6 to 9 hours depending on the vessel and stops. Alternatively, take the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Rafina to Tinos, which runs up to 12 times daily in summer and takes around 2 hours.

Getting there by air

Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Anafi has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, flying to Athens and then Athens to Mykonos, followed by the short ferry from Mykonos to Tinos taking around 30 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. Alternatively, take the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Rafina to Tinos. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Anafi to Santorini, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Rafina to Tinos. Rafina is a short taxi ride from Athens Airport and avoids crossing the city entirely. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Anafi to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Tinos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to the port.
