Getting from Andros to Tilos

If you are heading to Tilos from Andros you are making your way from the northernmost island in the Cyclades to an island in the Dodecanese group, the first island in the Mediterranean to run entirely on renewable energy with good walking trails and a wild coastline.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Andros to Tilos. The two islands are in completely different parts of Greece with no sea connection between them. Getting there means taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, which runs up to 11 times daily and takes around 1 to 2 hours, flying to Athens and then flying to Rhodes or Kos, followed by the local ferry to Tilos. From Rhodes the ferry takes around 2 to 3 hours and from Kos around 2 hours.

Getting there by air

Tilos has no airport. The nearest airports are Rhodes and Kos. Andros has no airport either. Taking the ferry from Andros to Rafina, flying to Athens and then Athens to Rhodes, followed by the local ferry from Rhodes to Tilos, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, fly to Athens and then fly to Rhodes and take the local ferry across to Tilos. Check the Rhodes to Tilos schedule before booking your flights as the service does not run daily. If you are traveling with a car, take the ferry from Andros to Rafina, drive to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Tilos ferry, which takes your vehicle.
