Getting from Antikythera to Skiathos

If you are heading to Skiathos from Antikythera you are making your way from one of the most remote islands in Greece to the most cosmopolitan of the Sporades group, in the northern Aegean. The two islands are on opposite sides of the country and could hardly be more different in character.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Antikythera to Skiathos. Antikythera's ferry connections are limited to Kythira, Piraeus, Kissamos in Crete and occasional ports on the southern Peloponnese. Getting to Skiathos by sea means taking the ferry from Antikythera to Piraeus, which takes around 9 hours, and then traveling by road to Volos or Mantoudi in northern Evia for the ferry to Skiathos. The total journey by sea and road takes the better part of two days. Note that as of 2026 there are no departures from Agios Konstantinos to Skiathos.

Getting there by air

Skiathos has its own international airport with daily connections from Athens. Antikythera has no airport, only a helipad. The nearest airport is Kythira. Taking the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, flying to Athens and then Athens to Skiathos gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Antikythera to Kythira, fly to Athens and then fly to Skiathos. It is the most practical approach by a significant margin. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Antikythera to Piraeus and drive to Volos or Mantoudi for the ferry across to Skiathos.
