Getting from Antiparos to Amorgos

If you are heading to Amorgos from Antiparos you are making your way from a small quiet island in the Cyclades to the most eastern of the group, a natural progression east through the island chain. It has dramatic cliffs, the extraordinary Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa built into the cliff face above the sea and an atmosphere that rewards those who make the effort to get there.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Antiparos to Amorgos running in summer on the wider Blue Star and Seajets routes. The service runs a limited number of times per week and takes around 4 to 7 hours with stops along the way through Paros and Naxos. The more practical approach is to take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, which takes 7 minutes from Pounta, and then board the Paros to Amorgos ferry, which runs daily in summer and takes around 3 to 6 hours. Amorgos has two ports, Katapola and Aegiali, so check which port your ferry arrives at before booking accommodation.

Getting there by air

Amorgos has no airport. The nearest airports are Naxos and Santorini. Antiparos has no airport either. Taking the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros and continuing east through the Cyclades to Amorgos keeps the journey entirely within the island group and avoids Athens entirely. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros and board the Paros to Amorgos ferry. It is the most natural and enjoyable connection and keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades. Give Amorgos at least three nights. The island opens up slowly and rewards those who stay long enough to find its rhythm. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional ferry from Paros takes your vehicle directly to the island.
