Getting from Antiparos to Ios

If you are heading to Ios from Antiparos you are making your way from a small quiet island in the Cyclades to an island in the southern part of the group, a natural progression south through the island chain. It has some of the finest beaches in the Cyclades on its south coast and a Chora above the port that comes alive in the evening.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Antiparos to Ios running in summer on the wider Blue Star and Seajets routes. The service runs a limited number of times per week and takes around 3 to 6 hours with stops along the way. The more practical approach is to take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros, which takes 7 minutes from Pounta, and then board the Paros to Ios ferry, which runs several times daily in summer and takes around 2 to 4 hours depending on the vessel.

Getting there by air

Ios has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Antiparos has no airport either. Taking the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros and continuing south through the Cyclades to Ios is considerably more practical than flying for this connection. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the short ferry from Antiparos to Paros and board the Paros to Ios ferry. It is the most natural and direct connection and keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional ferry from Paros takes your vehicle directly to Ios port.
