Getting from Arki to Kasos

If you are heading to Kasos from Arki you are making your way from one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Dodecanese to the southernmost island in the same group, further south. It has a maritime history that produced some of Greece's most celebrated sea captains and an authenticity that comes from being almost entirely off the tourist circuit.

Take the ferry

There is a seasonal direct ferry from Arki to Kasos running via the Dodekanisos Seaways network, which connects multiple Dodecanese islands on the same route south. The service runs a limited number of times per week and takes around 10 to 14 hours with stops along the way through Patmos, Leros, Kalymnos, Kos, Rhodes and Karpathos. It is the most natural sea connection and keeps the journey entirely within the Dodecanese without going through Athens.

Getting there by air

Kasos has its own small airport with connections from Athens via Rhodes. Arki has no airport either. Taking the local ferry from Arki to Leros, flying to Athens and then Athens to Rhodes and Rhodes to Kasos gives a total journey time of around 6 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Arki to Leros, fly to Athens and then fly to Rhodes and connect to Kasos by air or local ferry. It is the most time efficient approach. If you prefer to travel by sea, take the Dodekanisos Seaways ferry south through the Dodecanese to Kasos, which keeps the journey entirely within the island group and avoids Athens entirely. Check the schedule carefully before planning around it as services run only a limited number of times per week.
