Getting from Arki to Patmos

If you are heading to Patmos from Arki you are making one of the most natural connections from the island, to the closest major island just to the south. It is where John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelation and the 11th century monastery of Saint John the Theologian above Chora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Arki to Patmos running daily in summer, taking around 50 minutes. It is the most natural and frequent connection from Arki and the gateway to the wider Dodecanese ferry network. The service is operated by Dodekanisos Seaways and runs several times a week even in the low season. Check the schedule before traveling as times vary.

Getting there by air

Patmos has no airport. The nearest airports are Leros and Kos. Arki has no airport either. The direct ferry to Patmos is the only realistic option for this short connection and at around 50 minutes it is one of the most effortless island hops in the northern Dodecanese.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Arki to Patmos. It is fast, relatively frequent and the most natural connection from the island. From Patmos you can access the wider Dodecanese ferry network, fly from Leros to Athens for onward connections, or simply enjoy one of the most spiritually significant islands in Greece. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional ferry takes your vehicle directly to Patmos port.
