Getting from Astakos to Athens

If you are heading to Athens from Astakos you are making your way from a port town on the western coast of central Greece to the capital and the gateway to everything it connects to.

There is no direct ferry from Astakos to Athens. Astakos ferry connections are limited to Kefalonia and Ithaca. Getting to Athens means driving from Astakos via the E65 motorway and Agrinio, which takes around 3.5 hours. It is the most straightforward and practical connection.

Astakos has no airport. The nearest airport is Preveza, around 70 kilometres to the north, with limited connections. Driving from Astakos to Athens is considerably more practical than flying for this mainland connection and takes around 3.5 hours via the E65 motorway.

Drive from Astakos to Athens via the E65 motorway through Agrinio and Corinth. It is the most direct and practical approach and takes around 3.5 hours. The KTEL bus from Astakos runs to Athens Kifissos terminal several times daily and is a good alternative if you prefer not to drive. Athens is then the gateway to the wider ferry network at Piraeus and Rafina, and to flights from Athens International Airport.
