Getting from Astakos to Paros

If you are heading to Paros from Astakos you are making your way from a port town on the western coast of central Greece to the hub of the Cyclades, on the opposite side of the country. It has one of the most beautiful small harbour villages in Greece at Naoussa, long sandy beaches on the west coast and a position at the centre of the island ferry network.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Astakos to Paros. Astakos ferry connections are limited to Kefalonia and Ithaca. Getting to Paros means driving from Astakos to Athens, which takes around 3.5 hours, and then taking the Piraeus to Paros ferry, which runs multiple times daily in summer and takes around 3 hours on the fast catamaran and 4 to 5 hours on the conventional vessel. Note that Paros National Airport has no commercial scheduled flights operating in 2026.

Getting there by air

Paros has a small airstrip but no commercial scheduled flights in 2026. Astakos has no airport either. The ferry from Piraeus is the only realistic option and is the most practical connection to Paros from the mainland. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Drive from Astakos to Athens and take the Piraeus to Paros ferry. The fast catamaran delivers you directly to Parikia port in the centre of the island in around 3 hours. Book ahead in July and August as this is one of the most popular routes in the Cyclades. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional ferry from Piraeus takes your vehicle directly to the island.
