Getting from Athens to Porto Heli
If you are heading to Porto Heli from Athens you are making your way to one of the most attractive coastal destinations on the Greek mainland. The harbour is sheltered and clear, the marina draws sailing boats from across the Mediterranean and the surrounding coastline has some excellent beaches. Spetses is visible across the water and reachable by local boat in minutes. The whole area has a relaxed atmosphere that attracts Greeks who want somewhere beautiful without the effort of an island, and the quality of the food and accommodation has risen sharply over the past decade.
Getting there by air
Porto Heli has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens, around 200 kilometres to the north. Flying is not a practical option for this route.
Take the train or drive
The drive from Athens to Porto Heli takes around 2.5 to 3 hours via the E94 through Corinth and the Peloponnese. There is no train service to Porto Heli. The KTEL bus from Athens Kifissos terminal runs to the Argolid coast with connections to Porto Heli, taking around 3 to 3.5 hours.
Take the ferry
There is a Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Porto Heli with around 4 to 5 daily departures, taking around 2 hours on the fast boat. It is a pleasant approach if you want to arrive by sea and avoids the road journey through the Peloponnese entirely.
Your best option
Drive from Athens if you want flexibility for exploring the Argolid and Peloponnese. Take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus if you want to arrive by sea and are not bringing a car. Both options are comfortable and neither takes more than 3 hours.
