Getting from Chios to Oinousses
If you are heading to Oinousses from Chios you are making the most natural and effortless connection from the island, to a small cluster of islands just off the northeastern coast of Chios. It has a naval tradition that produced a disproportionate share of Greece's great shipping dynasties and almost no tourist infrastructure.
Take the ferry
There is a direct daily local ferry from Chios main port to Oinousses taking around 1 hour. It is the only connection between the two and runs throughout the year, with additional departures in summer. The service is operated by the local ferry that serves the island and tickets can be bought at the port on the day. No advance booking is required or available.
Getting there by air
Oinousses has no airport. The nearest airport is Chios. The direct local ferry is the only realistic option for this short connection and at around 1 hour it is one of the most effortless island hops in the northeastern Aegean.
Your best option
Take the direct local ferry from Chios main port to Oinousses. It is fast, runs daily and is the most natural connection from the island. Check the schedule before traveling as departure times vary by season. Give yourself at least two nights on Oinousses and bring everything you need with you as facilities on the island are limited.
