Getting from Chios to Serifos
If you are heading to Serifos from Chios you are making your way from one of the most overlooked islands in the northeastern Aegean to an island in the western Cyclades, on the opposite side of Greece. It has a Chora that climbs a steep hill above the port in a way that looks almost impossibly dramatic from the water.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Chios to Serifos. Getting there by sea means taking the overnight Chios to Piraeus ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 9 hours, and then the Piraeus to Serifos ferry, which runs 4 to 5 times daily in summer and takes around 2 to 3.5 hours on the fast boat. Alternatively fly from Chios to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus to Serifos.
Getting there by air
Serifos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Chios has its own airport with daily connections from Athens. Flying from Chios to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus to Serifos gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly from Chios to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus to Serifos. At around 2 to 3.5 hours the Piraeus to Serifos crossing is one of the more manageable Cyclades connections. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Chios to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Serifos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to Livadi port.
