Getting from Chios to Parga
If you are heading to Parga from Chios you are making your way from one of the most overlooked islands in the northeastern Aegean to a Venetian-built harbour town on the Epirus coast, on the opposite side of Greece. It faces the Ionian Sea with good beaches and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Chios to Parga. Parga is a mainland coastal town with no connection to the northeastern Aegean ferry network. Getting there by sea means taking the overnight Chios to Piraeus ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 9 hours, and then traveling northwest by road to Parga, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Athens. The total journey takes the better part of two days.
Getting there by air
Parga has no airport. The nearest airports are Preveza, around 65 kilometres south, and Ioannina, around 103 kilometres east. Chios has its own airport with daily connections from Athens. Flying from Chios to Athens and then Athens to Preveza, followed by a taxi or bus to Parga taking around 1 hour, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly from Chios to Athens and then fly to Preveza and take a taxi or bus to Parga. It is the most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the overnight ferry from Chios to Piraeus and drive northwest via the E65 motorway to Parga, which takes around 5 to 6 hours from Athens.
