Getting from Crete to Agistri
If you are heading to Agistri from Crete you are going to the smallest of the Saronic islands, an island almost entirely covered in pine forest that reaches the shoreline in places, with good beaches, clear water and a low-key atmosphere that attracts Athenians who have been coming for years rather than international tourists.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Crete to Agistri. The island is connected to Piraeus by the Saronic ferry network, with up to 15 daily departures in summer and the trip taking around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes. Getting to Piraeus from Crete means taking the overnight ferry from Heraklion, making the total journey by sea the better part of a day.
Getting there by air
Agistri has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Flying from Crete to Athens takes around 50 minutes and then the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Agistri takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours.
Your best option
Fly to Athens and take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Agistri. It is the most practical approach and with up to 15 daily departures in summer you rarely need to book in advance. Turn up at Piraeus, buy a ticket and get on the next boat.
