Getting from Crete to Kasos
If you are heading to Kasos from Crete you are going to the southernmost island in the Dodecanese, a small rocky place of around 1,000 permanent residents with a maritime history that produced some of Greece's most celebrated sea captains and an authenticity that comes from being almost entirely off the tourist circuit.
Take the ferry
There is a direct ferry from Crete to Kasos departing from Sitia on the eastern coast of Crete, running a few times per week and taking around 2 to 3 hours. This is one of the most practical connections to Kasos from anywhere in Greece and avoids going through Athens entirely. Check the schedule before planning around it as the frequency is limited and your travel dates need to align with the departure days.
Getting there by air
Kasos has its own small airport with connections from Athens via Rhodes. Flying from Crete to Athens takes around 50 minutes and then Athens to Rhodes and Rhodes to Kasos adds around 2 to 3 hours. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours.
Your best option
Take the ferry from Sitia when the schedule works for your dates. It is one of the most direct and underused connections in the southern Aegean. If the timing does not align, fly via Athens and Rhodes.
