Getting from Crete to Serifos
If you are heading to Serifos from Crete you are going to one of the most rewarding islands in the western Cyclades, a rugged and hilly island with a Chora that climbs a steep hill above the port in a way that looks almost impossibly dramatic from the water.
Take the ferry
There is a direct seasonal ferry from Crete to Serifos running in summer, departing from Heraklion and stopping at Santorini, Folegandros and Milos along the way, with the full journey taking around 5 to 6 hours. The route is not year-round so check the schedule before planning around it. Outside of the summer season the connection goes via Piraeus.
Getting there by air
Serifos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Flying from Crete to Athens takes around 50 minutes and then the ferry from Piraeus to Serifos takes around 3 hours on the fast service. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours.
Your best option
Take the direct summer ferry from Heraklion when it is running. If the direct service is not available for your dates, fly to Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus. The arrival into Livadi port with the Chora rising dramatically above is one of the finer approaches in the Cyclades.
