Getting from Spetses to Fournoi
If you are heading to Fournoi from Spetses you are making your way from a car-free island in the Saronic Gulf to a cluster of small fishing islands between Ikaria and Samos in the eastern Aegean, on the opposite side of Greece. It has excellent seafood, quiet beaches and almost no tourist infrastructure.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Spetses to Fournoi. Getting there means taking the Saronic ferry from Spetses to Piraeus, which runs up to 10 times daily and takes around 2 to 3.5 hours, and then either flying from Athens to Samos and taking the local ferry to Fournoi, which takes under 1 hour and runs daily in summer, or flying from Athens to Ikaria and taking the local ferry to Fournoi. Alternatively board the overnight Piraeus to Samos ferry and then take the local ferry to Fournoi.
Getting there by air
Fournoi has no airport. The nearest airports are Samos and Ikaria, both with connections from Athens. Spetses has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Spetses to Piraeus, flying from Athens to Samos and then taking the local ferry to Fournoi gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the Saronic ferry from Spetses to Piraeus and fly from Athens to Samos, then take the local ferry across to Fournoi. It is the most practical approach. Give yourself at least two nights on Fournoi and come prepared as facilities on the island are limited. Note that Spetses is car-free so if you are traveling with a car it would be at the mainland port of Kosta, from where you can drive to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Samos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to the island.
