Getting from Tilos to Evia
If you are heading to Evia from Tilos you are making your way from a volcanic island in the Dodecanese to the second largest island in Greece, connected to the mainland by road bridges and within easy reach of Athens.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Tilos to Evia. Getting there means taking the ferry from Tilos to Rhodes, which takes around 1 hour 10 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes and runs 4 to 7 days per week, and then flying from Rhodes to Athens and traveling to Evia by road or short ferry. The most convenient approach from Athens is to cross the bridge at Halkida, around 90 kilometres from central Athens, or take the short ferry from Rafina to Marmari in southern Evia, which takes around 1 hour and runs several times daily.
Getting there by air
Evia has no commercial airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Tilos has no airport. The nearest airport is Rhodes. Taking the ferry from Tilos to Rhodes, flying from Rhodes to Athens and then traveling to Evia by road or short ferry gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the ferry from Tilos to Rhodes and fly from Rhodes to Athens, then cross to Evia via the bridge at Halkida or the short ferry from Rafina to Marmari. The Rafina to Marmari ferry is particularly convenient as Rafina sits just 20 kilometres from Athens Airport. Check the Tilos to Rhodes schedule before booking as departure days and times vary by season. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional route is to fly to Athens and drive to whichever part of Evia suits your plans.
