Getting from Tinos to Poros

If you are heading to Poros from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to a small island in the Saronic Gulf, on the opposite side of Greece. Poros sits just 200 metres from the Peloponnese mainland and the narrow channel between them creates one of the most charming harbour settings in Greece.

Take the ferry

Getting there means taking the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus, which runs daily and takes around 2.5 to 4.5 hours, and then boarding the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros, which takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes with several daily departures. It is a straightforward two-step connection with Piraeus serving as the natural hub between the two islands.

Getting there by air

Poros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and then boarding the Saronic ferry to Poros gives a total journey time of around 4 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Take the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and board the Saronic ferry to Poros. Plan your Tinos departure around the Poros ferry schedule to avoid a long wait at Piraeus. If you are traveling with a car, drive to Galatas on the eastern Peloponnese coast after arriving at Piraeus, then take the short local ferry across to Poros which takes only a few minutes and runs constantly throughout the day.
