Getting from Tinos to Schinoussa

If you are heading to Schinoussa from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to one of the Small Cyclades, in the same island group. It has more than 18 beaches scattered around a coastline that you can walk across in an afternoon.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Tinos to Schinoussa. Getting there by sea means taking the ferry from Tinos south through the Cyclades to Naxos, which runs several times daily in summer and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, and then taking the local Express Skopelitis ferry to Schinoussa, which takes around 2 hours and runs almost daily in summer. This keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades and avoids Athens and Piraeus entirely. Alternatively take the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and board the direct Piraeus to Schinoussa ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 7 to 9 hours.

Getting there by air

Schinoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the ferry from Tinos south to Naxos and then the local ferry to Schinoussa gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours and avoids Athens entirely. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Take the ferry from Tinos south to Naxos and then the local Express Skopelitis across to Schinoussa. It keeps the journey entirely within the Cyclades and avoids Athens entirely. Check the schedule carefully before booking as departure days vary by season. Give yourself at least two nights on Schinoussa and come with everything you need as facilities on the island are limited.
