Getting from Tinos to Sifnos

If you are heading to Sifnos from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to one of the most respected islands in the same group, to the southwest. It is known above all for its food, a tradition of pottery and cooking that has made it one of the most regarded gastronomic destinations in the Aegean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Tinos to Sifnos. Getting there by sea means taking the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus, which runs daily and takes around 2.5 to 4.5 hours, and then boarding the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry, which runs up to 4 times daily in summer and takes around 2.5 hours on the fast boat. This is the most practical sea approach as there is no direct Cyclades inter-island connection between the northern and western Cyclades that avoids Piraeus.

Getting there by air

Sifnos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and boarding the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry gives a total journey time of around 5 to 7 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry. At around 2.5 hours on the fast boat the Piraeus to Sifnos crossing is one of the more manageable Cyclades connections. Plan your Tinos departure around the Sifnos ferry schedule to avoid a long wait at Piraeus. If you are traveling with a car, the conventional Piraeus to Sifnos ferry takes your vehicle directly to Kamares port.
