Getting from Tinos to Spetses

If you are heading to Spetses from Tinos you are making your way from the most venerated pilgrimage island in the Cyclades to a car-free island in the Saronic Gulf, on the opposite side of Greece. It has neoclassical mansions around the harbour, a strong nautical tradition and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Tinos to Spetses. Getting there means taking the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus, which runs daily and takes around 2.5 to 4.5 hours, and then boarding the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Spetses, which runs up to 10 daily crossings and takes around 1.5 to 3.5 hours. It is a straightforward two-step connection with Piraeus serving as the natural hub between the two islands.

Getting there by air

Spetses has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and then boarding the Saronic ferry to Spetses gives a total journey time of around 5 to 8 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Tinos to Piraeus and board the Saronic ferry to Spetses. Note that Spetses is car-free so no vehicles can be taken to the island. Plan your Tinos departure carefully to allow enough time to make the Spetses connection from Piraeus. If you are traveling with a car, drive to the mainland port of Kosta after arriving at Piraeus and take the short local boat across to Spetses.
