Getting from Zakynthos to Santorini
If you are heading to Santorini from Zakynthos you are making your way to the most iconic island in Greece, on the opposite side of the country in the southern Cyclades.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Zakynthos to Santorini. No Ionian island is connected by sea to any Aegean island. The ferry connection goes via Kyllini on the Peloponnese and then Piraeus, with the Piraeus to Santorini ferry taking around 5 to 9 hours depending on the vessel. The total journey by bus and ferry takes around 11 to 12 hours. If you are travelling with a car this is the only realistic option.
Getting there by air
Both Zakynthos and Santorini have airports. Flying from Zakynthos to Athens and then Athens to Santorini gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours including the connection. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly via Athens. It is considerably faster than any combination of bus and ferry. If you are travelling with a car, take the ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini and drive to Piraeus for the ferry to Santorini.
