About the Beach

Kapsalakia Beach is the primary coastal area of Arki located within the islands small and protected harbor of Porto-Augusto. The landscape is defined by its simplicity and the presence of traditional whitewashed houses and a few local tavernas that line the waterfront providing a cozy and social atmosphere. Because it is the islands main gateway the environment is a blend of maritime activity and quiet island life where the shallow waters are often filled with local fishing boats. The surrounding hills are arid and rocky with low scrubland characteristic of the Dodecanese archipelago offering a modest and unpretentious introduction to this remote and peaceful island.
