About the Beach
Kounoupes Beach is an exotic coastal landmark situated on the uninhabited islet of Kounoupes which is part of the small archipelago surrounding Astypalea and is famous for its unique double beach formation. The landscape is defined by a narrow strip of pebbles and sand that connects two parts of the islet creating two distinct water fronts with vibrant turquoise colors. There is no permanent infrastructure or shade on the islet allowing the environment to remain entirely primitive and focused on the raw maritime geometry of the Aegean. Visitors reach this paradise via excursion boats from Pera Gialos to find a quiet and surreal setting where the land seems to float between the deep blue channels.
