About the Beach
Megali Ammos is one of those places that looks different every single time you visit. It’s a massive, shifting sandspit near Marmari that actually changes its shape based on the wind and the tides. The name means "Great Sand," and it really lives up to it with huge dunes that stretch out into the bright turquoise water. Because the wind is so consistent, it’s a world-class playground for kitesurfers, and the sky is often filled with their bright sails. Even if you just want to walk, the sense of open space and the clarity of the water are incredible. It feels very grand and a bit wild, like you’re standing at the edge of the world. Walking out to the very tip where the waves meet from both sides is an experience you won't forget.
