About the Beach
Paleokastritsa Beach is actually a group of six different small coves and bays that are often called the most beautiful spot on the whole island of Corfu because the water is a bright emerald green color and the hills around it are covered in thick green forests. It is famous for having a very old monastery sitting high up on a cliff where you can look out over the entire ocean and see the big rocks sticking out of the water like giant sea monsters. The water here is usually a bit colder than other beaches because it is very deep and comes from the open sea, but it is so clear that it is one of the best places for snorkeling and taking boat trips to see secret sea caves. There are lots of little restaurants and places to rent a boat right on the sand, and the whole area feels like a magical paradise where the green trees and the bright blue water meet in a way that looks like a painting.
