About the Beach

Psoraris is a very quiet and secluded spot located on the southwestern coast of Karpathos, near the airport. It is a narrow stretch of sand and pebbles that offers a peaceful escape for those who want to avoid the more popular and organized beaches of the island. The water is exceptionally clear and shallow, but the area is often exposed to the strong meltemi winds that characterize the region. Because it is unorganized, you will not find any sunbeds or umbrellas, so the atmosphere remains wild and natural. It is a favorite for visitors who enjoy long walks by the sea in total solitude. The surrounding landscape is flat and scrubby, typical of the island’s southern tip, providing a sense of total isolation from the main tourist hubs. It is a place for those who want to hear nothing but the sound of the wind and the waves.
