About the Beach

Tholaria Beach is a remote and strikingly beautiful coastal sanctuary on the southern coast of Tilos, also known as Tholos, offering a sense of total isolation from the modern world. It features a small stretch of sand and pebbles surrounded by imposing gray and red rock formations that rise majestically on either side of the bay. The beach is entirely unorganized and maintains a raw, pristine character, accessible primarily by water taxi from the port of Livadia or via a long and demanding hiking trail that starts near the Monastery of Agios Panteleimon. The water is deep and fresh, offering a high-quality environment for snorkeling along the rocky edges where the marine life of the Dodecanese is abundant and undisturbed. It is a destination for nature lovers and adventurers who want to experience the island in its most natural and silent form away from the more frequented spots. There are no commercial facilities or trees for natural shade, so you must be prepared with all your own water and supplies for the visit. The entry into the water is via the stones and the clarity is consistently high. The atmosphere is quiet and respectful, reflecting the private spirit of the coast. It is a part of the Tilos eco-park where the beauty is untamed.
