About the Beach

Vatera is a massive and truly impressive sandy beach on the southern coast of Lesvos, stretching for over seven kilometers, making it one of the longest in Greece. It features fine sand and deep, crystalline water that has been awarded a Blue Flag for its exceptional quality. Because of its immense size, Vatera never feels crowded, offering plenty of room for both organized sections with beach bars and wide, empty stretches for total solitude. The water is very clean and provides a grand, open-sea swimming experience that is very refreshing. The surrounding landscape is a mix of agricultural land and rugged hills, providing a beautiful and simple backdrop.
