About the Beach

Vathy Beach is a unique and deeply secluded coastal landmark located at the northeastern tip of Astypalea consisting of a large natural lagoon that is almost entirely enclosed by high rocky hills and divided into the two small settlements of Mesa Vathy and Exo Vathy where the environment is characterized by extreme stillness and a total absence of waves as the most remote part of the island offering a primitive and silent atmosphere where the only activities are centered around a few traditional fish tavernas and small wooden piers against a barren and volcanic mountain backdrop.
