History

Saint Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church of Overland Park, Kansas serves the Orthodox Christian faithful of the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, the only Greek Orthodox parish in the Kansas portion of the metro region. The parish is dedicated to Saint Dionysios the Areopagite, the first-century Athenian jurist whom the Apostle Paul converted to Christianity during his sermon on the Areopagus, who later became the first Bishop of Athens and a foundational figure in the Eastern Christian theological tradition. His feast day is celebrated on October 3.
