Getting from Aegina to Hydra

If you are heading to Hydra from Aegina you are making one of the most enjoyable hops in the Saronic Gulf, between two of the most distinctive islands close to Athens. Hydra is car-free with elegant stone mansions, exceptionally clear water and a quality of silence unlike anywhere else in the region.

Take the ferry

There is a direct seasonal ferry from Aegina to Hydra, departing from Agia Marina port on the eastern coast of Aegina and taking around 40 to 55 minutes. The service runs 1 to 2 times daily in summer, with departures typically in the morning and afternoon. Agia Marina is around 13 kilometres from Aegina Town and connected by local bus. Outside of the summer season the direct service does not run and you would need to connect via Poros or Piraeus.

Getting there by air

Hydra has no airport. The direct seasonal ferry from Aegina is the most practical option when it is running. Outside of summer, the connection goes via Piraeus.
