Getting from Agistri to Andros

If you are heading to Andros from Agistri you are making your way to the northernmost island in the Cyclades, with neoclassical mansions, an art museum of genuinely international quality and a network of old footpaths connecting the villages.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agistri to Andros. Andros is served primarily from Rafina on the northeastern Attica coast, not from Piraeus. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, and then travel by metro or taxi to Rafina, around 25 kilometres from Athens Airport, for the ferry to Andros taking around 1 to 2 hours with up to 11 daily departures in summer.

Getting there by air

Andros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and then traveling to Rafina for the ferry to Andros gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and make your way to Rafina for the ferry to Andros. Rafina is a short taxi ride from Athens Airport and avoids crossing the city entirely. If you are traveling with a car, the ferry from Agistri already puts you at Piraeus with your vehicle, then drive to Rafina for the ferry across to Andros.
