Getting from Agistri to Folegandros

If you are heading to Folegandros from Agistri you are making your way from a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf to a small clifftop island in the southern Cyclades. It has a Chora perched on the edge of a sheer drop above the sea and an atmosphere of genuine calm.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agistri to Folegandros. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Folegandros ferry, which runs 2 to 3 times daily in summer and takes around 5 to 8 hours depending on the vessel. Alternatively, take the fast ferry from Piraeus to Santorini and then the short ferry from Santorini to Folegandros, which takes around 45 to 50 minutes.

Getting there by air

Folegandros has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Santorini, followed by the short ferry to Folegandros, gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and fly to Santorini via Athens, then take the short ferry across to Folegandros. It is the most time efficient approach. If you are traveling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Folegandros ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to the island.
