Getting from Agistri to Santorini

If you are heading to Santorini from Agistri you are making your way from a small pine-covered island in the Saronic Gulf to the most iconic island in Greece. It has caldera views, volcanic beaches and the ancient Minoan site of Akrotiri preserved under volcanic ash.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agistri to Santorini. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, which takes around 55 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Santorini ferry, which runs up to 9 daily departures in summer and takes around 5 to 9 hours depending on the vessel. Total journey time from Agistri is around 6 to 10 hours.

Getting there by air

Santorini has an international airport with daily connections from Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Santorini takes around 45 to 55 minutes in the air. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours and is the most practical approach for most travelers.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and fly to Santorini via Athens. It is the fastest and most practical approach. Book well ahead in July and August as Santorini ferry and flight spaces fill up fast. If you are traveling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Agistri to Piraeus and board the conventional Piraeus to Santorini ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to Athinios port.
