Getting from Alexandroupoli to Kylini
If you are heading to Kylini from Alexandroupoli you are making your way from the far northeastern corner of Greece to a port town on the northwestern Peloponnese coast, on the opposite side of the country. It has a long sandy beach and the medieval castle of Chlemoutsi nearby, one of the best preserved Frankish fortifications in Greece.
Take the ferry
There is no ferry connection between Alexandroupoli and Kylini. Both are mainland locations and the journey is entirely by road or a combination of road and air.
Getting there by air
Kylini has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Flying from Alexandroupoli to Athens and then driving west to Kylini takes around 3 to 3.5 hours from Athens via the E65 motorway and Patras. Total journey time is around 5 to 6 hours.
Your best option
Fly from Alexandroupoli to Athens and drive west to Kylini via the E65 motorway through Corinth and Patras. It is the most practical approach. If you are traveling with a car, drive from Alexandroupoli to Kylini via the Egnatia motorway, E75 and then west through Athens and Patras, which takes around 11 to 12 hours in total.
