Getting from Mykonos to Naxos
So you're heading from Mykonos to Naxos. Another easy Cyclades hop and one of the best island combinations you can do in Greece. Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades and a completely different experience to Mykonos, so if you are moving on from the party scene and looking for something with a bit more substance, you are making a good call.
The route is direct and simple.
Take the ferry
Direct ferries run between Mykonos and Naxos regularly through summer and the crossing takes around 1.5 to 2 hours on a fast ferry. SeaJets and Hellenic Seaways both cover this route and departures are frequent in peak season. Book ahead in July and August, the popular Cyclades crossings fill up and this one is no different.
What about flying?
There are no direct flights between Mykonos and Naxos. To fly you would be routing through Athens, Mykonos to Athens then Athens to Naxos, which turns a 2 hour ferry into a 4 to 5 hour travel day. It costs more and takes longer. The ferry is the obvious choice on this route.
Your best option
Take the ferry. Naxos port drops you right into the heart of Naxos Town with the Portara sitting above you as you arrive. It is one of the better island arrivals in the Cyclades and you would miss it entirely if you flew.
