Getting from Mykonos to Pserimos
You're heading to Pserimos, a small island tucked between Kos and Kalymnos in the Dodecanese with a single beach settlement and a permanent population of around 100 people. Day trippers come over from both islands through the summer which means the beach fills up at midday and empties out by late afternoon when the boats head back. Stay overnight and you get the island almost entirely to yourself, which is a completely different experience and the reason to go.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry between Mykonos and Pserimos. The island is served by local boats from Kos and Kalymnos rather than the main ferry network, which means getting there requires reaching one of those two islands first. From Mykonos the practical approach is to take a ferry to Kos and then hop across to Pserimos by local boat. The crossing takes around 30 to 45 minutes.
What about flying?
Pserimos does not have an airport so flying directly to the island is not an option. The nearest airport is Kos, which is your most practical gateway to Pserimos. The journey from Mykonos goes via Athens to Kos and then the short local boat crossing to Pserimos. It is worth knowing that in Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights. Almost all island to island travel goes through Athens.
Your best option
Fly to Kos via Athens and take the local boat across to Pserimos. Stay overnight rather than doing it as a day trip. The difference between Pserimos at midday with the day trippers and Pserimos in the early morning or evening is significant. It is a simple island and it is best experienced simply.
