Getting from Tilos to Rhodes
If you are heading to Rhodes from Tilos you are making your way from a volcanic island in the southern Dodecanese to the largest island in the same group, just a short distance to the south. It has a medieval walled city built by the Knights of Saint John that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe.
Take the ferry
There is a direct ferry from Tilos to Rhodes running 5 to 7 days per week, taking around 1 hour 40 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes depending on the operator and vessel. Multiple operators serve this route including Dodekanisos Seaways, Blue Star Ferries and Saos Ferries, making it one of the most reliable and frequent connections in the southern Dodecanese. It is the most natural and direct connection from Tilos and keeps the journey entirely within the island group.
Getting there by air
Rhodes has an international airport with daily connections from Athens. Tilos has no airport. The direct ferry from Tilos to Rhodes is considerably more practical than flying for this short island hop given the crossing time and frequency of the service. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the direct ferry from Tilos to Rhodes. With 5 to 7 weekly departures it is the most natural and frequent connection from the island. Check the schedule before traveling as departure times vary by season and between operators. If you are traveling with a car the conventional ferry takes your vehicle directly to Rhodes port. From Rhodes you have access to flights, ferries and connections to the wider Greek network.
