Getting from Volos to Piraeus

If you are heading to Piraeus from Volos you are making your way from a city on the Pagasetic Gulf at the foot of the Pelion peninsula to the largest port in Greece and the gateway to Athens and the wider ferry network.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Volos to Piraeus. Both are mainland cities connected only by road. Getting there means driving from Volos south via the E75 motorway to Piraeus, which takes around 3 to 3.5 hours. Alternatively take the KTEL bus from Volos to Athens Liosion terminal and then take the metro or taxi to Piraeus, which takes around 20 to 45 minutes from central Athens.

Getting there by air

Piraeus has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 45 kilometres to the east. Volos has a small airport at Nea Anchialos with limited connections from Athens. Driving from Volos to Piraeus via the E75 motorway is considerably more practical than flying for this connection.
