About the Beach

Kastro is a beautiful sandy beach located right at the entrance of Lefkada island, just across from the historic fortress of Santa Maura. It features a long, narrow shore with very clear and shallow water that is a brilliant shade of turquoise. Because it is so close to Lefkada Town, it is a very popular and accessible choice for a quick swim. The beach is well-protected from the larger waves of the open sea, making it an easy and safe environment for families. It is a largely unorganized spot, though its proximity to the road means that basic amenities are never far away. The views of the ancient castle walls and the bridge create a very unique and atmospheric backdrop. It is a fantastic place to enjoy the late afternoon sun and watch the boats entering the lagoon. The atmosphere is relaxed and very scenic.
