About the Beach
Kokkinonisi Cove Beach is a secluded and visually striking spot located on the eastern coast of Alonissos directly opposite the small uninhabited islet of Kokkinonisi which acts as a natural breakwater. The landscape is defined by the unique and vibrant reddish hue of the earth and the surrounding cliffs which contrast sharply with the deep green of the pine trees that cling precariously to the rocky slopes. This area remains entirely unorganized and remote offering a primitive and quiet environment for those who reach its shores by boat or via the islands network of winding dirt tracks. The view across the narrow channel toward the reddish iron rich islet creates a dramatic and prehistoric feeling making it one of the most distinctive and quiet natural landmarks found within the National Marine Park.
