About the Beach

Skinopi is a fishing hamlet on the shore of the natural bay of Milos. It features a row of boat houses with colored doors built into the water edge. There is no formal beach, but the piers and rocky ledges provide a place to jump into the blue water. Access is via a steep dirt road, which keeps crowds away and preserves the village as a sanctuary. It is an unorganized spot with no facilities for those who want to experience the silence and history of the island. The views across the bay toward Adamas are visible in the afternoon. It is a location for those who want to see how the island looked in the past. The water is deep and clear, and there is a sense of peace that is hard to find elsewhere. It is a place for a quiet swim followed by a walk among the traditional buildings.
