About the Beach
Velanio Beach is a spectacular and strikingly beautiful coastal sanctuary on the southern coast of Skopelos, located just past the bay of Stafylos and officially recognized as the island's premier destination for nudism and natural living. It features an expansive stretch of fine golden sand and small white pebbles with exceptionally clear turquoise water, surrounded by high rocky cliffs and a dense forest of pine trees that reach the edge of the shore and provide a fresh, shaded environment for visitors. The beach is divided by a rocky headland into two distinct sections, with the first part offering a few rows of sunbeds and a rustic canteen, while the larger second section remains entirely unorganized and maintains a raw, pristine character. The water is deep and fresh, offering a high-quality environment for a long swim in a sheltered bay that is protected from the strong northern winds by the dramatic island topography. Access is via a scenic walking path that leads over the hill from Stafylos, which helps keep the atmosphere quiet and respectful even during the peak summer months. This impressive stretch of the coastline offers a sense of total freedom and captures the traditional, quiet spirit of the Sporades for those who value privacy and a deep connection to the Mediterranean landscape.
